Standard Golf Offers Pink Accessories for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, one in eight women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among women, claiming more than 40,000 lives each year. But there’s good news! Prompted by improved education and increased awareness, mortality rates from breast cancer have been steadily declining since 1990, in large part due to better screening leading to early detection and diagnosis, as well as better treatment options. And major contributors to early diagnoses are the events and activities of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, observed each October.
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month was founded in October 1985 to promote mammography as the most effective weapon in the fight against breast cancer. In 1991, pink ribbons were distributed to all breast cancer survivors and participants of the Komen New York City Race for the Cure. Today, pink ribbons, as well as pink accessories, are incorporated each October by numerous brands and organizations, such as the NFL, New Balance, and Nike, to help raise awareness. This month, Standard Golf is offering pink accessories to help raise awareness and show support with our partner golf courses and affiliate organizations.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women, claiming hundreds of thousands of lives annually worldwide. Many Standard Golf team members and their loved ones have fought breast cancer. While some have courageously won the fight, others, unfortunately, have not. Early detection through testing and mammograms is the best way to prevent a long and dangerous illness.
